Real Heroes, the acclaimed photographic series featuring fine-art limited edition soccer prints by Clint Strydom, continues to resonate as a celebration of soccer in its most authentic form. At a time when the global game captures the world’s attention with the FIFAl World cup 2026 taking place in the United States, Canada and Mexica this year, these photographs remind us that the true power of football lies not only in the stadiums of international competition, but in the countless children who play simply for the love of it.

They may not be famous, but in their joy, resilience, and unfiltered devotion to the game, they embody the spirit of football itself.

Soccer is often told through the spectacle of the professional game, packed stadiums, global superstars, and the theatre of international tournaments. But beyond the floodlights and television cameras lies another story, one that unfolds daily on beaches, dusty township grounds, and improvised fields across South Africa.

In Real Heroes, photographer Clint Strydom turns his lens toward these quieter moments of the game. The series captures children playing soccer with an intensity and joy that exists far from the world's arenas. With worn balls, makeshift goals, and limitless imagination, they play simply for the love of the game.

Through these photographs, Strydom sought to share the stories of South African children who embody soccer's purest spirit. Their matches unfold on stretches of sand, in open fields, and between township streets where the boundaries of the pitch are defined by whatever the environment provides. Here, soccer is not spectacle or industry; it is community, expression, and belonging.

Through Real Heroes, Strydom invites viewers to reconsider where the heart of football truly lives. Away from the grand arenas and international spotlight, it thrives in the joy of children who gather wherever space allows, carrying the spirit of the game forward with every kick of the ball.
